When it was revealed that Sora would arrive at Super Smash Bros. Ultimate _, the entire community of players celebrated this event, and it was surprised that Disney would give Nintendo the opportunity to add this character to the extensive repertoire of the fight game. However, it was not the mouse company who complicated this collaboration, but the creator of Kingdom Hearts, Tetsuya Nomura.
In an interview with Ign, Nomura revealed that he really was who complicated Sora’s arrival to super Smash Bros. Ultimate, since he believed that this could be a clash with the provisions of Kingdom Hearts . This was what he said about it:
Obviously, I was very happy that we could make Sora appear in Smash Bros. Ultimate. Most of the comments when Sora was [announced] for Smash Bros. Ultimate were: ‘I can’t believe Disney has approved that he is in this game’. Behind the scene, I was actually the one who was being very demanding with the appearance of him in Smash Bros. Disney was the one who said: ‘Go ahead! This is a great opportunity,’
I thought it would be difficult to achieve it because I could collide with the tradition established in Kingdom Hearts and Disney’s worlds, so it was an opportunity that I had to consider very carefully. After seeing how happy they were all welcoming Sora to Smash Bros., I feel that the final result was really great.
At the end of the day, Masahiro Sakurai was in charge of giving all the attention Sora deserved when creating his movement list for the game . The result? A great inclusion that will be remembered with love for years and years. In related issues, Mod adds to Chrono to the fight game. Similarly, new details have been revealed about Kingdom Hearts IV.
Editor’s note:
Considering how Tetsuya Nomura works, it should not be a surprise that he was the main obstacle to making this collaboration a reality. Fortunately, at the end of the day everything went more than good.
